Social Media Matters: Offer an Ambassador Program
Colleges and universities are starting to jump on the bandwagon of reward programs by offering supporters an incentivized social media ambassador program to promote official Giving Day content. Participants use their social media networks to advertise the fundraising drive and earn points based on different activities (e.g., retweeting a post or recruiting a friend to join the ambassador program). The most effective social media ambassador programs reward participants for their online participation with an entry to win school apparel and merchandise.
Fundraising Updates Are Simply Not Enough: Incorporate a Webcast
With the increasing use of social media, schools are easily able to provide fundraising and donor updates to supporters about their Giving Days. Hosting a webcast or live-stream of the giving event allows realtime updates and an interactive experience, including interviews with faculty, staff, students and alumni. Without having to wait for fundraising updates, donors can quickly learn about the event’s progress in the broadcast.
